State-owned electricity firm PT PLN has selected 18 companies to submit tender proposals for the EPC (engineering procurement and construction) contract of its proposed LNG receiving terminal and re-gasification facilities project in Bojonegara, Banten Province.

PLN?s vice president for planning Eden Napitupulu said Wednesday, about seven companies of the qualified bidders will submit their proposals for the Tank EPC Contract, five companies for the Offshore EPC contract, while other six companies for the Main EPC contracts.

Mitsubishi, Mitsui, Sofregas of France, Tecnigas, TKK, Ishikawajima, Chicago Bridge & Iron Co., and Fluor Daniel were among the qualified bidders, Eden said.

According to Eden, the tender will be closed in August and PLN schedules to award the contracts by the end of this year.

PLN considered the construction of LNG receiving terminal urgent as it predicted gas consumption to feed its gas-fired power plants in Java will increase tremendously after 2007. (alex)
