State electricity firm PT PLN (Persero) said sales of its Renewable Energy Certificates (REC) reached 6.43 terawatt hours (TWh) in 2025, up 19.65% year on year, driven mainly by demand from industrial and business customers.
PLN said REC allows customers to claim the use of electricity generated from renewable energy without changing their power infrastructure, and provides internationally recognised proof of renewable energy consumption.

PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo said most REC sales were to large industrial and manufacturing customers. Retail and Commerce Director Adi Priyanto said about 55% of REC sales in December 2025 came from the top 10 buyers, with individual purchase volumes ranging from 93,966 megawatt hours (MWh) to 779,000 MWh.
PLN said REC sales have risen consistently since the product was launched in 2020.
The company said electricity supplied under REC and dedicated green power services is sourced from 12 renewable power plants, including geothermal plants Kamojang, Ulubelu, Lahendong, Ulumbu and Ijen; hydropower plants Cirata, Bakaru, Orya Genyem, Saguling and Mrica; the Lambur mini-hydro plant; and the Cirata solar power plant.
