State-owned electricity firm PT PLN is ready to soon resume construction of the stalled 2x7 MW coal-fired power plant (PLTU) project in Kotabaru, South Kalimantan Province.

Head of Construction Division for Kalimantan Region at PLN, Hariyadi K., said that the company hopes the power plant to start commercial operation at the end of next year.

?When the project was suspended in 2014, construction progress had reached 80 percent. We?re currently making preparations to soon resume construction,? he told Petromindo.com on Monday.

Hariyadi said that PLN has allocated around Rp 100 billion to complete the Kotabaru PLTU project, which is projected to require about 100,000 tons of coal per year when it operates.

The Kotabaru PLTU project is among of stalled power plant projects of independent power producers which have been taken over by PLN at the request of the government so that construction of the plants can be resumed and completed.
