The state-owned electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) said it would retender for all the construction of 300-400 coal-fired power plant projects, part of the government?s fast track program to provide additional power supply of 10,000 MW between 2007 and 2009, following the failed tender.

Coal-fired power plant projects under 300 and 400 MW capacity category to be retendered are located in Tanjung Awar-Awar (2X300 MW), Indramayu (3x300 MW), Labuan (2x300 MW), Rembang (2x300 MW), Pelabuhan Ratu (3x300 MW), Teluk Naga (3x300 MW),Pacitan (2x300 MW) and Tanjung Jati (1x600 MW)

Coal-fired power plant Tanjung Jati with a capacity of 600 MW and 700 MW will also be retendered.

Earlier the committee only retendered four projects - Banten project Pelabuhan Ratu (Banten), Teluk Naga (Banten), Pacitan (East Java) and Tanjung Jati (central Java) because it attracted less than three bidders.

PLN has decided to retender for all the construction of the 300-400 MW coal-fired power plant, PLN?s spokesman Muljo Adji told Petromindo.Com.

Muljo didn't elaborate further on the reason for the PLN's plan to retender but he said that schedule for the retender would be announced soon. (godang)
