State-owned electricity firm PT PLN hopes to announce in December a partner for its subsidiary PT Pembangkitan Jawa Bali (PJB) in developing the planned 800 MW PLTGU Jawa-3 combined cycle power plant project in Gresik, East Java Province.
PLN has shortlisted five candidates, one of which to be selected as the PJB partner in the project. ?Of the 160 companies participating in the tender, five companies have passed. It (the winner) will be announced within the next two or three weeks,? said PJB President Director, Iwan Agung Firstantara to Petromindo.com on Tuesday, adding that the all the candidates are foreign entities both in the form of consortium or individual company.
PJB is expected to hold 51 percent interest in the PLTGU Jawa-3 project, he added.
Iwan said that construction of the project is targeted to start in early 2018, and hopefully can be completed in 2021. Gas supply will come from the Jambaran Tiung Biru field, in the Cepu block, operated by PT Pertamina EP Cepu, at a volume of 80 mmscfd. PLN and Partamina have signed a gas sale and purchase agreement, under which PLN will buy the gas at a price of US$7.6 per mmbtu for a 30-year contract.
