PLN short-lists coal suppliers for its mega power project

State electricity firm PLN said on Thursday that 18 miners and suppliers had been declared eligible to participate in the long-term tender to supply 14 MTPA of low CV coal to PLN?s proposed 10,000-MW power plants projects.

Acting Power Generation Director Fahmi Mochtar told Petromindo.Com the eligible bidders will submit their offers on February 25, 2008.

The eligible bidders are: (1)Arutmin Indonesia and Darma Henwa Consortium, (2)Berau Coal, (3)Putri Kencana and Berau Indo Bara Consortium, (4)Astaka Dodol, (5) Baramutiara Prima, (6)Karya Bumi Baratama, (7)Bara Indah lestari Consortium, (8) Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam (9) Modal Investasi Mineral Consortium, (10)Oktasan Baruna Persada, (11)Surya Sakti Darma Kencana, (12)Tri Sapta Sejahtera, (13)Wijaya Karya Intrade, (14)Bumi sekundang Enim Energi Consortium, (15) Dwi Guna Laksana Consortium, (16) Hanson Energy (17) Maxima Infrastruktur and (18) Titan Mining Energy.

He said winners would contracted to supply coal for 20 years.

11 MTPA of the coal required would be for Java island requirement and the remaining 3 MTPA for outer Java.

PLN had earlier secured 19MTPA of supply for the project from various suppliers.

Fahmi said coal supply would start in 2009, when some of the power plants, which are planned to be built across the archipelago would start operations. (godang)
