PLN sign coal supply deals for N. Sumatra power plant

State electricity firm PLN on Thursday signed 21 million tonnes coal supply deals with three producers to supply its Labuhan Angin 2x115-MW power plant in North Sumatra.

Under the 20-year deal, Jambi coal miner PT Bara Adhipratama will supply 10.5 MT while South Kalimantan miners PT Dwi Guna Laksana and PT Centra Bara Indonesia will supply 6.3 MT and 4.2 MT, respectively.

The power plant is expected to start commercial operations in December 2008.

PLN will pay the miners Rp.314, 000 or US$ 34 per tonne CIF for the low CV coal.

The plant is constructed main contractor China National Machinery & Equipment Import & Export Corporation (CMEC) and several local sub-contractors such as PT.Truba Jurong, and PT Wijaya Karya.

The plant?s development is 85 percent funded by China EXIM Bank.(godang)
