PLN signs 10 private coal-fired power plants outside Java
Tuesday, January 16 2007 - 06:48 AM WIB
PLN?s Deputy for Independent Power Producers (IPPs) Nasri Sebayang said that the PPAs on the construction of two other coal-fired power plants - Celukan Bawang power plant with a capacity of 380 MW in Bali and Labuhan power plant with a capacity of 2 x 6MW in West Nusa Tenggara ? has been delayed for some specific reasons.
PLN and PT General Energy Bali, contractor of Celukan Bawang power plant, have not yet reached an agreement on the coal price, which led to the delay in the signing of the PPAs. ?A negation on the coal price is underway,? Nasri said.
The signing of cooperation agreement on the construction of Labuhan power plant has also been delayed because the contractor (consortium Sutraco-Cagindo-YPK PLN) had yet to submit a document explaining the company?s special objective.
?The companies are given 14 months to seek capital from banks. If within the given time, they fail to get capital, then the PPAs is cancelled,? he said. (*)
