PLN signs contracts for three new power projects

State-owned electricity firm PT PLN signed on Monday contracts for the construction of two power plants and a power substation with total investment worth Rp 5.3 trillion.

PLN said in a statement that the company signed EPC contract with a consortium of PT Bagus Karya and AECOM Cogindo for the construction of a 200 MW peaking gas engine power plant (PLTMG) in Riau Province, with total investment of Rp 2.3 trillion. The power plant project is targeted to be completed in 18 months since the signing of the contract.

The utility firms also signed a letter of acceptance (LOA) with a consortium of PT Wijaya Karya and Mitsubishi Corp for a planned 200 MW coal-fired power plant project in South Sulawesi called PLTU Sulsel Baru-2. The Rp 2.83 trillion power plant project is targeted to be completed in 36 months.

PLN also signed EPC contract worth Rp 143.5 billion with a consortium of PT Siemens Indonesia and Siemens Malaysia for the construction of a power substation, 2 LB and 2x30 MVA, in West Kalimantan Province, which is targeted for completion in 540 days.

PLN Finance Director Sarwono Sudarto said that the projects are financed via internal funds (30%) and foreign loans (70 %).
