PLN signs EPC contracts for power plant, transmission line projects

State-owned electricity firm PT PLN signed on Thursday eight EPC contracts for the development of several power plants and transmission lines with total investment of Rp 7.2 trillion as part of efforts to realize the government?s target to develop a combined 35,000 MW power plants by 2019.

PLN said in a statement on Thursday the EPC contracts include five contracts for the development of several power plants with combined capacity of 735.5 MW and total investment of Rp 6.28 trillion.

The five EPC contracts are as follows.
1. Mobile Power Plant (MPP) Package 3 (PLTMG/gas engine power plant Tanjung Selor 15 MW, PLTMG Biak 15 MW, PLTMG Merauke 20 MW, PLTMG Langgur 20 MW, and PLTMG Seram 20 MW), all totaling 90 MW
2. MPP Package 4 (PLTMG Maumere 40 MW, PLTMG Bima 50 MW, and PLTMG Sumbawa 50 MW), all totaling 140 MW
3. MPP Package 5 (PLTMG Ambon 30 MW, PLTMG Bau-Bau 30 MW, and PLTMG Jayapura 40 MW), totaling 100 MW
4. Diesel-fired power plants (PLTD) in Lot III, totaling 77.5 MW spread in 64 locations
5. PLTD Lot IV, totaling 328 MW spread in 60 locations

The other two EPC contracts are for the development of 150 kV transmission lines, totaling 246 circuit kilometers (kms) from Tayan to Sekadau regencies in West Kalimantan Province with total investment of Rp 299 billion. The transmission line projects include 150 kV extra high voltage tower line (SUTT) linking Tayan and Sangau totaling 146 kms, and 150 kV SUTT linking Sanggau and Sekadau, totaling 100 kms.

PLN also issued a letter of intent for MPP Nias totaling 25 MW. The company hopes the power plant projects can be completed in 2018.
