PLN signs PPA for PLTU Mamuju, PLTP Ijen

State utility PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) signed on Wednesday the power purchase agreement (PPA) for the steam-fired power plant (PLTU) Mamuju in Mamuju, West Sulawesi, and the geothermal power plant (PLTP) Ijen in Ijen, East Java.

The PLTU Mamuju will have a generation capacity of 2?25 Megawatt (MW), while the PLTP Ijen will have a generation capacity of 2X55 MW. Both of the power plants will be constructed under the scheme of independent power producer (IPP), but it is not clear yet when they will start commcercial operation, PLN announced on Wednesday.

The PPA for PLTU Mamuju was signed by PLN President Director Nur Pamudji and PT REKIND DAYA MAMUJU President Director Harry Fardiman.

The PPA for PLTP Ijen was signed by PLN President Director Nur Pamudji and PT Medco Cahaya Geothermal President Director Faizal Erwin Alfitri.

With the signing of PPA, the investors of the two power plants have secured that PLN will buy the power generated from both power plants.

?We hope that after the PPA signing, the development of the two power plants will be conducted soon. PLN is ready to buy the power produced under the IPP scheme, especially if the power plants are based on renewable energy,? said Nur Pamudji.
