State utility PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with PT Pusaka Jaya Palu Power (PJPP) for electricity to be produced from steam-powered power plant (PLTU) Tawaeli Ekspansi in Sulawesi.

The PPA was signed by PLN President Director Nur Pamudji and PJPP's President Director Wahyuni in a ceremony, which was also attended by PLN Construction Director Nasri Sebayang in Jakarta on Tuesday.

The PLTU Tawaeli Ekspansi, which has a generation capacity of 2x15 megawatt (MW), will be built under the independent power producer (IPP) scheme.

The PLTU Tawaeli Ekspansi will be constructed by PJPP around the already-in-operation 2?13,5 MW PLTU Tawaeli with a total investment of US$ 42 million. It is expected to start commercial operation in early 2015.
