PLN signs PPAs for 11 hydro power projects

State-owned electricity firm PT PLN signed on Friday power purchase agreements (PPAs) with independent power producers (IPPs) for 11 micro hydro power plant (PLTM) and hydro power plant (PLTA) projects in Sumatra, Sulawesi, and Java with combined capacity of 291.4 MW.

PLN said in a statement that President Joko Widodo witnessed the PPA signing ceremony.

PLN said that the signing of today?s PPAs follows the signing of PPAs on August 2 for the development a combined 257.17 MW of renewable base power plant projects. As such, the total capacity of renewables projects whose PPAs have been signed by PLN this year reached 548.57 W.

The statement said that the tariffs of electricity from the proposed projects are set based on the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation No 50/2017, which limits the tariff maximum to be the same as the local BPP (electricity supply cost of PLN) where the project is located, in the case where the local BPP is higher than the national average BPP, and based on negotiation between PLN and IPP in the case where the local BPP is lower or equal to national average.
