State-owned electricity firm PT PLN has signed power purchase agreements (PPAs) for renewable energy-based power plants in East Java.

The company said in a statement on Thursday that PLN signed PPA with PT Sumber Organik, which plans to develop a second Benowo waste-based power plant with a capacity of 8.31 MW in provincial capital city of Surabaya.

The power plant is expected to be completed in 2019. Sumber Organik currently operates a 1.65 MW Benowo waste-based power plant, which started operation in November of last year.

The second PPA was signed with state-owned plantation firm PTPN X for excess power from a 3 MW co-generation power plant operated by the plantation firm in Kediri, East Java.

Aside from the two PPAs, PLN also signed financial date for the planned construction of the Lodagung 1.3 MW micro hydro power plant in Blitar Regency.
