PLN signs purchase agreement with Wampu Electric

State electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) (Persero) has signed an agreement to purchase power from a 3 x 15 MW hydro power plant to be built by PT Wampu Electric Power in Wampu, North Sumatra.
Under the power purchase agreement (PPA) signed in Jakarta on Tuesday, PLN would buy electricity from the Wampu hydro power plant at 7.23 US cent per kilowatt hour (kWh) under a 30-year contract.
Wampu Electric is owned by a consortium of two South Korean companies Korea Midland Power Co Ltd (Komipo) and Daewoo Engineering Co (Daewoo) and PT Mega Power Mandiri (MPM).
The construction of the power plant which will begin this year and is scheduled for completion in 2014. (kanti)
