State-owned electricity company PT. Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) announced Tuesday it has slightly reduced electricity tariff of various groups of customers for the period of August due to lower oil price.

The company said that the tariff for low voltage category with capacities of between 3,500 volt ampere (VA) and 200 kilo volt ampere has been lowered to Rp 1,547 per kWh from Rp 1,548.

It added that the tariff for medium voltage with capacities of more than kVA has been cut down to Rp 1,218 per kWh from Rp 1,219.

The tariff for high voltage customers with capacities higher than 30,000 kVA has been lowered to Rp 1,086 per kWh from Rp 1,087.

PLN said that the exchange rate of the rupiah against the US dollar and inflation rates in May and June have also been taken into account in deciding the new tariffs.
