PLN soon to announce winners of three power projects

State owned electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara will announce this month the winners of the tender for contracts to build three power projects in Java.

The three power projects are the Tanjung Awar-Awar power project in East Java, the Labuan power project in Banten and the Indramayu power project in West Java. Each of the power projects has a power generation capacity of between 600 Megawatt (MW) and 1,200 MW.

On Tuesday, PLN opened the bidding documents submitted by three consortiums seeking to get each of the projects.

?We shall name the winners and then sign a letter of intent this month. Contracts will be signed this year,? head of PLN?s bidding team Tondojoyo Suyono said in a press conference following the opening of the bidding documents.

For the Tanjung Awar-Awar project, PLN opened the bidding document submitted by the China National Industry Corp (Sinomach)-CNEEC-PT Penta Adi Samudra consortium. The consortium offers a bidding price of US$471.17 million for the construction of the power plant designed to have two power units each with the capacity of between 300 MW and 400 MW.

For the Labuan power project, which is designed to have two power units each with the capacity of between 300 MW and 400 MW, PLN opened the bidding document submitted by the Chengda Engineering Corp-Truba Jurong Engineering consortium which offers a bidding price of $338.22 million for the construction of the power plant.

For the Indramayu power project, PLN opened the bidding document submitted by the China National Machinery Industry Corp. (Sinomach)-CNEEC-PT Penta Adi Samudera consortium which offered a bidding price of $696.73 million for the construction of the power plant designed to have three power units each with the capacity of between 300 MW and 400 MW.

Tondojoyo said PLN would further evaluate the bidding proposal to see price for kilowatt hour, generating cost, heat rate and financing offered by each of the consortiums before deciding whether they will the project.

The projects are part of several power plant projects planned by the government in the fast-track program to build 10,000 MW power plants over the next several years. (Godang)
