PLN starts commissioning of PLTU Teluk Balikpapan plant

State-owned electricity firm PT PLN started late on Tuesday commissioning of the first unit of the 2x110 MW PLTU Teluk Balikpapan coal-fired power plant in Balikpapan Utara, East Kalimantan Province, Antarakaltim reported.
This was said by Head of the Public Relations Division of PLN?s East Kalimantan and North Kalimantan Regional Office, Rakhmi P. Devy on Wednesday.
During the commissioning, the power plant was run to its maximum capacity of 110 MW, and distributed electricity to the Mahakam power system, which supplies power to Balikpapan, Samarinda, Tenggarong, and Bontang.
If everything goes smoothly, the unit 1 of the PLTU Teluk Balikpapan power plant, whose construction started in 2011, will start full operation in November, the news portal said. (*)
