PT PLN has started the development of Duri Kosambi gas insulated switchgear of 500 kV extra high voltage (GISTET) in Duri Kosambi, Cengkareng, West Jakarta. It is targeted to be finalized in 2018.
PLN announced in a press release on Wednesday that PLN?s Western Java Regional Director Murtaqi Syamsuddin marked the development with a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday. The GISTET 500 kV Duri Kosambi is part of the development of seven high voltage sub-stations (GITET), which are aimed to strengthen the power system in Jakarta and surrounding areas.
The seven substations are GITET Kembangan, GITET Lengkong, GITET Muara Karang, GITET Priok, GITET Muara Tawar, and GITET Tambun, which are all known as the 500 kV Looping Jakarta.
Currently, the peak load of the power system of Jakarta-Banten and surrounding areas already reached 10,065 MW, which are supported by 10 extra high voltage sub-stations (GITET) of 500 kV, GITET 150 kV and 70 kV. But most of these GITET are already utilized up to 80 percent. The increase of peak load was due to the development of infrastructure, office buildings, housing complexes, industrial estates, and other facilities that need additional power supply.
The infrastructure of GISTET 500 kV Duri Kosambi uses the sulphurhexaflouride gas-insulated technology (SF6). Fully financed by PLN, it consists of two inter-bus transformers (IBT) at the capacity of 500 MVA, with a total capacity of 1,000 MVA.
Unlike the conventional GITET, the Duri Kosambi GISTET only needs smaller size of land site at around 20,000 meter square.
