PLN starts development of new substation in N. Sulawesi

State-owned electricity firm PT PLN has started construction of a 150 kV power substation (GI) in Molibagu, North Sulawesi Province, which will be integrated with the North Sulawesi and Gorontalo (Sulutgo) interconnection system linked with a 150 kV high voltage elevated transmission system.

Fajar Suroyo, a General Manager at PLN Sulbagut (northern part of Sulawesi) region, said last week that the GI Molibagu is being developed by PT Baruga Asri Nusa Development. The GI will utilize a 30 MVA transformer to distribute electricity to the consumers.

The Sulutgo interconnection system currently has peak load 356 MW service electricity supply of three PLN area units in Suluttenggo region, namely Manado area, Koamobagu area and Gorontalo area.

According to the 2017-2026 electricity procurement business plan (RUPTL) of PLN, the PLN Sulbagu is assigned to develop electricity infrastructure facilities in three provinces of North Sulawesi, Gorontalo and Central Sulawesi. Total power plant capacity currently stands at 2,186.3 MW, with total 2,520 MVA of GIs, and 3,965-km circuit of transmission lines.
