PLN starts operating mobile transformer in Lhokseumawe

State owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) has successfully brought into operation a mobile substation transformer with a capacity of 30 MVA in Lhokseumawe, Aceh on Wednesday, adding around 24 MW voltage to the area?s mid-voltage power network.

The operation of the transformer strengthen the reliability of power supplies for consumers in the area, including PT Perta Arun Gas, the operator of the Arun Storage and Regasification Terminal, better known as Arun Regas.

The firm also said it has completed the construction of PLTMG Arun gas engine power plant and brought it into commercial operation on Dec. 21, 2015. The power plant has 19 engines in total. With a total capacity of 184 MW, the power plant is the largest of its kind in Indonesia. Along with the power plant, PLN has also completed the construction of the Arun substation with a capacity of 4x60 MVA.

The power plant has been connected with the northern Sumatra grid, which covers Aceh and North Sumatra provinces, according to PLN.

The power plant is supplied with LNG from the Tangguh LNG plant in West Papua, which is delivered to the power plant after regasification process at Arun Regas.
