PLN studying wave energy

State owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) will carry out study on power generation from sea waves, Directorate General of New Renewable and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) said in a statement on Wednesday.
The study is part of the plans laid out in PLN?s General Plan on Electrical Power Provision (RUPTL) 2015-2024, according to EBTKE.
EBTKE noted however that PLN will develop wave power only if there has been a proven technology for such power plant and such technology has been commercially available. In fact, until now, there isn?t yet any technology which has been proved reliable and able to operate commercially for five years.
Wave energy is a purely clean energy as it does not need fuel and it doesn?t produce any waste, EBTKE said.
