PLN, Supreme Energy to sign power purchase agreement

State electricity company PT PLN on Friday will sign power purchase agreement (PPA) with PT Supreme Energy, which will become legal basis for PLN to purchase electricity from Supreme Energy?s geothermal power plants at Muara Laboh (PLTP Muara Laboh) and PLTP Rajabasa, PLN President Director Nur Pamudji said.

PLTP Muara laboh and PLTP Rajabasa are located in West Sumatra and Lampung respectively. The tariffs of electricity to be applied are not known yet.

Under the draft PPA, as reported by Petromindo.com earlier, PLN would buy power from the 2x110 MW PLTP Muara Laboh at price of 9.4 US cents per kWh.

Apart from the two geothermal power plants, Supreme Energy also plans to develop a 220 megawatts geothermal potential of Rantau Dedap in South Sumatra, teaming up with Japan's Marubeni Corp and International Power Plc - GDF Suez.

Supreme Energy President Supramu Santoso said earlier that the total exploration costs for the three geothermal power plants are expected to reach US$250-300 million.
