PLN surveys 12 MW micro hydropower potentials in NTT?s Manggarai regency

Public utility PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) is surveying 12 MW micro hydropower potentials in Manggarai regency in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) province.

?Micro hydropower potentials in Manggarai are fairly big due to the existence of many waterfalls in the area. We are now doing an intensive survey on the possibility build new micro hydropower plants in order to strengthen power supplies in the area,? Ruben MItra, PLN?s manager in Ruteng district said in a statement released by PLN on Wednesday.

According to Ruben, PLN already has a micro hydropower in the area, called PLTMH Wae Garit with a capacity of 120 kWh. The micro hydropower has been in operation since 1980s and is still in good condition.
