PLN teams up with Microsoft on digital transformation

State-owned electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Microsoft which will assist PLN in its digital transformation process.
The partnership aims to improve PLN's services to its customers - both corporate and the general public.
The MoU was signed by President Director of PLN Zulkifli Zaini and President Director of Microsoft Indonesia Haris Izme, and witnessed by Minister for State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Erick Thohir as well as President of Microsoft Asia Pacific, Andrea Della Mattea.
President Director of PLN Zulkifli Zaini said PLN is in the process of transformation in order to enable the company to the future challenges in particular related to customer services and business processes, starting from the power plant development through to services provided to customers. Microsoft, he said, is the right strategic partner.
"PLN is transmitting electricity from Sabang to Merauke, from Miangas to Rote Island. Our assets are spread, with total customers reaching around 75 million. Therefore, digital transformation is a must," he said.

In this agreement, Microsoft will provide the digital technology solutions most needed by PLN in modernizing data, conducting analysis, and building artificial intelligence systems in the PLN ecosystem. This will create Smart u=Utility systems which will improve PLN's capacity and ability to serve customers.
In addition, the cooperation also aims to improve digital capabilities and modern work concepts within the PLN environment, which will enable PLN to produce a working culture with high performance and measurability. This includes modernizing the infrastructure and applications used in the PLN environment.
