State utility PT PLN will conduct the tender in early June this year for vessels to transport compressed natural gas (CNG) for gas-fired power plants with capacity of 60 to 80 Megawatt (MW) in Lombok island.

"We?ll launch the tender of CNG vessels for Lombok early in June. We?re looking for vessels or barges having a carrying capacity of between 3 and 6 million standard cubic feet.

There have been many firms expressing their interests, namely Enersea from the US, Itochu from Japan, Daewoo from South Korea, and others from Italy and other countries. The tender will be an international one,? Fuel Oil (BBM) and Gas Division Head of PLN, M.Suryadi Mardjoeki, told Petromindo.com in Jakarta on Monday.

Suryadi noted that the tender winner would be announced in August 2012. ?The total fund needed for this is USD60 million, which is wholly provided by PLN.

To tackle the shortage of HSD supply in the 1,000 MW PLTG Belawan in North Sumatra due to expiration of supply contract of Trans Pacific Petrokimia Indonesia, PLN has decided to divert the HSD supply from Tanjung Grati to Belawan.

"To solve the problem of shortage in Belawan, PLN takes HSD at a volume of 300 kiloliter from Shell. In East Java it is oversupplied so that we decided to divert the excess to Belawan starting this month until the end lof this year. We?ll also prepare for the next tenders,? he told Petromindo.com.
