State owned electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) president director Dahlan Iskan has threatened to cancel the contract awarded to PT Barata Indonesia to build a coal fired power plant with capacity of 2 x 25 MW in Jeranjang, West Lombok, if the company continues to delay the construction of the power plant.

Dahlan said in Mataram on Monday that the project was part of the first 10,000 MW power plant fast-track program but the construction had not been yet begun.

?I am really upset with the delay,? he said following a meeting with executives of PLN branch in West Nusa Tenggara in the province?s capital Mataram. He said that even the construction of the port that had to be built in advance had not been begun.

The power project was scheduled to begin commercial operation in October, 2010.

He said that the contractor had been given until September to complete the construction of the port. Otherwise, the contract awarded to Barata would be cancelled, Dahlan added. (*)
