PLN to absorb 80% of LNG terminal capacity

State electricity firm PT PLN (Persero) said it would absorb most of capacity of the proposed floating LNG receiving terminal that would be built in Jakarta Bay.

CEO Dahlan Iskan said as quoted by The Jakarta Post that the company will absorb 80 percent of the terminal?s capacity.

The terminal, which will be 60 percent owned by state oil, gas company PT Pertamina (Persero) and 40 percent by state gas distribution firm PT PGN (Persero) will have initial capacity to process 1.5 million tonnes of LNG per annum.

Separately, the daily quoted Director General of oil and Gas Evita Legowo as saying that West Java fertilizer firm PT Pupuk Kujang will absorb 18 percent of the capacity.

The terminal is expected to become operational in 2011.

Dahlan also hinted that PLN might want to buy LNG from Donggi Senoro LNG project in Central Sulawesi . The LNG from the plant would be shipped to Jakarta Bay receiving terminal, he said. (*)
