PLN to announce winner of 2,000 MW Pemalang tender in August

State owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) will announce the winner of the tender of the 2x1000 Megawatt (MW) power plant project in Pemalang, Central Java in August.

?The winner of the tender will be announced one and two weeks after the opening of bid prices on August 15,? said Bastary Pandji Indra, the director for the development of the public and private partnership scheme at the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas).

Seven foreign companies have passed the prequalification phase of the tender, that is 1) China Shenhua Energy Company Limited 2) CNTIC ? Guandong Yudean Consortium 3) GDF Suez - J Power Consortium 4) Korea Electric Power Company (KEPCO) 5) Marubeni Corporation 6) Mitsubishi Corporation 7) Mitsui-International Power Consortium

The project will be developed under the independent power producer (IPP) and build-own-operate-transfer (BOOT) scheme with PLN obliged to buy the power supplies under a 25-year power purchasing agreement (PPA). (*)
