PLN to announce winners of mine mouth IPPs next week

State electricity company PT PLN (Persero) will announce the winners for a number of mine mouth coal fired power plants which will be built under the IPP scheme next week, Bagiyo Riawan, director for procurement of strategic projects of PLN said.

The mine mouth coal fired power plants are Sumsel 6, Sumsel 7, Sumsel 8 and Riau, he said.

PLN said earlier that the Sumsel-8 mine mouth power plant in South Sumatera will have capacity of 2x600 MW, Sumsel-6 with capacity of 2 x300 MW and Pranap power plant in Riau with capacity of 2x300 MW, while Sumsel-7 will have capacity of 2x150 MW.

Among bidders that have submitted bid for the mine mouth power plants projects is PT Bukit Asam. In the tender, the company is in collaboration with Chinese firm China Huadian to build Sumsel-8 and Sumsel-6; and for Pranap project PTBA is in partnership with India?s firm Lanco Group and Pamapersada Nusantara (Pama), a coal contractor unit of Indonesia-listed heavy-equipment distributor and coal mining firm PT United Tractors Tbk.
