PLN to build 1,611 MW power plants in Kalimantan through 2019

State-owned electricity company PT PLN said that a total of 1,611 MW power plants will be built in Kalimantan in the five-year period ending 2019.

Business Director of PLN Kalimantan regional office Djoko R. Abumanan said in a statement Tuesday that this is part of the central government?s plan to develop a total of 35,000 MW until 2019.

He said that PLN will also develop new power infrastructure facilities in Kalimantan over the period including a total of 7,883 km of transmission lines, part of which have started construction, and 115 units of relay station (equivalent to 3,910 MVA), some of which have also started construction including expansion projects.

Djoko was speaking at a forum to introduce to all PLN Kalimantan units assistance to be provided by the Attorney General?s Office in helping to make sure that the power projects can be avoided from legal problems, as well as to help overcome other obstacles such as land acquisition and permit issuance.
