PLN to build 11 substations in W. Kalimantan

State-owned electricity firm PT PLN plans to develop a total of 11 power substations (GI) 150 kV in West Kalimantan over the next three years.

?Some will be completed this year, including the Ngabang GI and Tayan GI, each with (transformer) capacity of 30 MVA, which have been completed,? said PLN Business Director for Kalimantan Region, Djoko R. Abumanan to Petromindo.com on Wednesday.

He said that substations currently under construction include GI 150 kV Kota Baru with capacity of 60 MW, GI 150 kV Sambas with capacity of 60 MW, GI 150 kV Singkawang with capacity of 30 MW, and GI 150 kV Seiraya with capacity of 60 MW.

?Those are the ones targeted to be completed this year. For targets in 2018-2019, they?re still at planning stage,? Djoko said.

PLN is also developing 150 kV transmission lines totaling 1,596 circuit kilometers in West Kalimantan, from Bengkayang-Ngabang-Tayan-Siantan, to be completed in 2017; Tayan-Sanggau in 2018; and Sanggau-Sekadau-Sintang, Ketapang-Sukadana and Ketapang- Kendawangan in 2019.

?For the Siantan-Tayan transmissions, the towers have been erected. Foundation for towers of the Tayan-Sanggau-Skadau transmission lines are under construction. Meanwhile, land acquisition is in progress for the towers of the Kadewangan-Ketapang-Sukadana (transmission lines),? he added.
