Djoko Susilo, PLN's general manager for Zone V, which also covers the province, was quoted by Bisnis Indonesia as saying on Monday that the power plant would be built in Siantan district, Pontianak regency and use marine fuel oil (MFO) as fuel. It will be built using the build, operate and transfer (BOT) scheme.
?We will meet at PLN headquarters to discuss about the funding,? Djoko said.
According to Djoko, the power plant will reduce the threat of power crisis in West Kalimantan, where the power generation machines? capacity is limited and the energy needs are increasing every year.
Currently the load factor at the peak time in the region is around 115 MW, while the combined capacity of power generators is also around 115 MW.
The power plant is expected to start operations next year. PLN has chosen MFO because it is more cheaper than diesel oil. (*)
