PLN to build and rent more power plants in northern Sumatra

State owned electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) plans to build and rent more power plants in order to increase power supply in northern part of Sumatra, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Thursday.
Chris Leo Manggala, the general manager of PLN unit in North Sumatra, said that the power plants which would be built would include PLTMG Duri gas fired power plant with capacity of 100 MW, the Nagan Raya power plant with capacity of 2 x 115 MW and the Belawan power plant with capacity of 120 MW.
In addition, PLN would also rent power plants with a capacity of 2 x 100 MW in Pangkalaan Brandan and another one with a capacity of 2 x 100 MW in Arun to help solve the power shortage problem, he said.
Chris said that PLN would also upgrade the capacity of the existing power plants in order to increase power supply. The plants to be upgraded include PLTG Glugur and PLTU 1 Belawan. (*)
