Suryadi Mardjoeki, the head of oil and gas division at PLN, said in Jakarta on Tuesday that the Papua power plant would be equipped with a gas receiving terminal which would store compressed natural gas (CNG).
The CNG would be delivered through a river due to the absence of pipeline network in the province.
He said that the capacity of the gas fired power plant in Papua which would need gas supply of between 5 to 15 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) would be smaller than those in other provinces.
Suryadi said that PLN would also build a number of CNG receiving stations in the company?s several gas fired power plants. He said that the receiving stations would store CNG to be used during peak hours.
Most of the existing gas pipes, which provide gas supply for PLN?s power plants are unable to meet an increase in gas supply volume during peak hours. (*)
