State-owned electricity firm PT PLN plans to build a 2x50 MW coal-fired power plant in Donggala Regency, Central Kalimantan, next year, Antara reported Wednesday.
The planned power plant will increase electricity supply to household and industrial consumers particularly in the provincial capital of Palu, said a local PLN official Jatnika.
He added that PLN could no longer rely on the Silae diesel-fired power plant to supply power in the region as diesel fuel is quite costly, and the power plant is already quite old. No further details about the project were provided. (*)
