PLN to build gas engine power plant in Kupang

State-owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) plans to build a 40 MW gas engine power plant (PLTMG) Peaker in Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province, to help increase power supply in the region, Antaranews.com reported on Friday.

The news portal quoted Richard Safkaur, General Manager of PLN for NTT region, as saying that preparations including land acquisition process will start soon, in the hope that construction can start next year. He did not say when the project will be completed.

Richard said that the PLTMG will help increase power supply in the Pulau Timor area, spanning from Kupang to the Atambua.

He explained that under the central government?s five-year program to develop a total of 35,000 MW power plants until 2019, about 225 MW will be developed in NTT. (*)
