State owned electricity company PLN plans to build hydro-power plants with total power generation capacity of 12,800 megawatt in 96 locations in different areas in the country by 2025, the company?s top executive said.
PLN President Director Nur Pamudji said the locations had been studied and had also been included in the company?s long-term power plant development plan.
?About 60 percent of the hydro-power plants will be developed by PLN and the other 40 percent will be offered to private companies,? he added.
Pamudji acknowledged that the development of the hydro-power plants was often hampered by the difficulties in obtaining permits for their construction. ?For this we hope the central government could ease the licensing problem,? he added.
