State-owned electricity firm PT. Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) plans to build land-based compressed natural gas (CNG) facilities at its Muara Tawar power plant in Bekasi, West Java, and Tambak Lorok plant in Semarang, Central Java, next year.

Head of Fuel and Gas Division at PLN Suryadi Mardjoeki told Petromindo.com Wednesday that the CNG facilities will each have a capacity of 20 mmscfd, both of which expected to be operational in 2013.

He added that the contractors for the project will be determined via a tender process. He did not provide further details.
