PLN to build new power plant in Bontang

State owned electricity company PLN will build a new power plant in Bontang, East Kalimantan to help cope with the power shortage in the town and other areas in the province including Samarinda, Tenggarong and Balikpapan.
PLN's deputy director Tony Agus M said in Jakarta on Thursday that the new power plant which would use a combined cycle turbine would have a capacity of 150 MW.
"We are still discussing the possibility of receiving gas supply of about 20 million cubic feet per day from Total Indonesie," he said, adding that the power plant was expected to begin its commercial production in 2009.
Sources said that several companies including PLTGU Bontang, PLN subsidiaries PT PJB and PT Indonesia Power, PT East Asia Indonesia Power would bid the new power project.
Earlier reported PT Pacific Oil and Gas Indonesia also proposed the same project in the location. (godang)
