State-owned electricity company PT. Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) is planning to build six small capacity coal-fired power plants that would dominantly use domestic-made components, reports said on Thursday.
Called the red and white (representing the country?s flag) power plants, PLN President Nur Pamudji said that the tender process for the supply of the materials and components is currently in progress.
He said that two plants with a combined capacity of 20 MW will be built in Luwuk, Central Sulawesi; 20 MW in Sumbawa, West Nusa Tenggara, and 14 MW in Simeulue, Aceh, all of which are projected to start operation in 2015. ?Our target is to build 30 red and white power plants,? he said. (*)
