PLN to build steam power plant in NTT

A subsidiary of state owned electricity company PLN will build a steam power plant in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) in cooperation with a local company, Neraca daily reported on Thursday.

"The construction of the new power plant will be commenced in 2005 and it is expected to be completed in 2006," said Manari Pasaribu, the general manager of PLN branch in NTT.

He said that PLN's subsidiary would be responsible to provide funds for the construction of the power plant, while the local company would be responsible to provide the location and license for the plant.

He said that the new steam power plant would have a capacity to provide electricity supply of up to 350 MW. With this capacity, the new power plant would be able to meet the increasing power demand in Kupang and Central Timor regency. (*)
