PLN to buy power from Waymon Energy in West Papua

State owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) signed on Monday a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT Wymon Energy to build a 3-MW gas fired power plant in Sorong Selatan regency, West Papua province, Antara news agency reported on Monday.

The MoU was signed on Friday by Rober Sitorus, PLN?s General Manager for West Papua and Papua provinces and Massimiliano, Wyman Energy?s President in Papua Province?s capital of Jayapura.

The power plant will be built in Teminabuan district in Sorong Selatan regency. The gas in the form of CNG will be delivered from West Papua Province?s capital of Sorong to Teminabuan over a distance of 140 km using trucks. The power will be purchased by PLN to be distributed to people in the district

PLN will also cooperate with the firm to build similar power plants in other areas such as Fakfak, Kaimana and Manokwari to replace the diesel power generators now used by PLN there. (*)
