PLN to call tender for E. Kal diesel-fired power plant

State electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) East Kalimantan area will open tender middle of this month for the construction of 30-MW floating diesel-fired power plant at Tanjung Batu, Kutai Kartanegara regency.
The planned floating power plant, which will use marine fuel oil (MFO), will expected to end the present supply deficit of over 30 MW.
PLN? s East Kalimantan trading manager Suryadi Mardjoeki said that the PLN headquarters has already issued orders for the open tender for the floating power plant in February.
?At present, we are in the process of analyzing the specification of the plant, which is different, because the plant will float on a river (a rivulet of Mahakam River),? Suryadi told the Bisnis Indonesia on Thursday in Balikpapan.
PLN expects the winner of the tender will be known by the end of May 2007 so that the winner can built the plant within two to three years.(*)
