State-owned electricity firm PT PLN aims to complete construction of a 2x7 MW coal-fired power plant in Sigam Village, Pulau Laut Utara District, Kotabaru Regency, South Kalimantan Province, this year.

Hasmar Tarigan, a planning manager at PLN?s central part of Kalimantan regional office, said on Friday that after briefly suspended last year due to financing problem, construction of the project has been resumed and is targeted to be completed this year.

He said that PLN is currently in the process of developing an underwater transmission network, a 150 kV elevated high voltage network from Batulicin to Kotabaru, and a relay station in Kotabaru to allow the Sigam plant to be interconnected with the Kalselteng network.

The project was suspended in late last year when construction progress had reached 85 percent and was about to enter finishing stage.
