PLN to complete Sungai Ringin coal-fired power plant project this year

State-owned electricity firm PT PLN aims to complete construction of the 3x7 MW PLTU Sungai Ringin coal-fired power plant project in Sintang Regency, West Kalimantan, this year.

PLN Director of Business for Kalimantan Region, Djoko R. Abumanan said on Tuesday that the company is seeking to accelerate construction of the project.

?Acceleration of the project is to meet power demand in Sangau and the surrounding areas. The target is for the unit 1 to start operation in October, and the second and third units in December or early next year,? he said to Petromindo.com.

He added that the PLTU Sungai Ringin is targeted to reach full-scale operation in early 2018. Current electrification ratio in West Kalimantan stands at 82.45 percent, is targeted to increase to 92.97 percent in 2021.
