PLN to consume around 60 million tons of coal in 2016

State-owned electricity firm PT PLN stated that the coal consumption in 2016 will reach around 60 million tons.
PLN's Corporate Planning Director, Nicke Widyawati told Petromindo.com that in 2015 the total consumption of coal at all PLN's coal-fired power plant reached about 48.9 million tons, compared to 2014 total consumption of around 44.6 million tons.
"There was an increase of about 4.3 million ton in 2015 compared to 2014, and in 2016 we predict there will be an increase of around eight to nine million ton as there will be several coal-fired power plants to be on stream," Nicke said.
Nicke explained that the PLN's coal-fired power plants in 2015 produced around 91,928 GWh of electricity compared to the previous year?s 84,917 GWh.
