PLN to develop new substation in W. Java

State-owned electricity firm PT PLN signed on Monday contract for the development of a new extra high voltage substation (also known as GITET) in Mandirancan, Kuningan Regency, West Java Province.

PLN Director of Business for Central Part of Java, Nasri Sebayang said in a statement that the new GITET will be used to distribute electricity from power plants being developed in the northern part of Java to the Java-Bali power system.

He said that the GITET Mandirancan Extension forms part of the 500 kV extra high voltage main substation (SUTET) project in the North Java route (Ungaran-Mandirancan-Indramayu - Cibatu Baru), funded by PLN at an estimated cost of Rp 153 billion, to support the government?s 35,000 MW power plants development program.

Nasri said that construction of the GITET Mandirancan is targeted to be completed in the first quarter of 2019 in line with the completion of new transmission lines and power plants in the northern part of Java.
