State-owned electricity firm PT PLN will develop transmission line of 500 Kv linking Suralaya in Banten Province and Muara Karang in Jakarta, through the northern coast area.

PLN?s Western Java Regional Operation Director Murtaqi Syamsudin, told petromindo.com recently that the transmission line will be about 56 kilometers in length.

?The surveillance for this project has been conducted since two months ago,? he said, adding that construction of the project is expected to commence next year. Murtaqi revealed that the investment for the project is predicted to be around Rp 500 billion.

?It will involve at least six national companies, and for the financial requirement will come from PLN internal cash,? he said.

The development of the transmission is expected to be last for around two years. ?Since we use the north coastline area, the challenges are relatively low and as we will use mostly uninhabited land,? he said, adding that from the Rp 500 billion of investment, around Rp 50 billion will be allocated for land acquisition. This transmission line is aimed to strengthen the Jawa Bali system, especially in West Java Province.
