PLN to develop transmission lines, substations in Central, West Java

State-owned electricity firm PT PLN signed on Thursday contracts with 14 contractors for the development of 20 packages of 150 kV extra high voltage elevated transmission lines and 150 kV substations scattered in several areas in Central and West Java provinces, Antaranews reported.

The news agency quoted General Manager of PLN Central Part of Java Region, Amihwanuddin as saying that the estimated Rp 1.4 trillion projects are targeted to be completed in 16 months.

He said that the new facilities will transmit a total of 7,200 MW of electricity from a number of new power plants which are currently under construction to the Java-Bali Power System. The power plants include PLTU Tanjung Jati B coal-fired power plant, PLTU Batang, PLTU Jawa 3, PLTU Jawa 1, and PLTU Indramayu. (*)
